Want to Learn to Fly? Start Here!

Great news—getting started is easier than you think! Your first step is a no-obligation Discovery Flight.

For just $100, you’ll spend an hour with a certified flight instructor, take an introductory flight around the Batesville, Arkansas area, and even get the chance to take the controls yourself! It’s the perfect way to experience the thrill of flying and see if becoming a pilot is right for you.

At Vx Pilot Academy, we believe in making aviation accessible, safe, and exciting for everyone. A discovery flight is not only a fun and memorable experience—it’s also a valuable introduction to the world of aviation. You’ll get a feel for what it’s like to train at a professional flight school, ask questions about flight training, and learn more about what it takes to become a licensed pilot.

No experience is necessary, and there’s no pressure to commit. Whether you’re exploring aviation as a potential career or simply curious about flying for fun, this is the ideal way to get started.

Your instructor will guide you through a pre-flight briefing, introduce you to the aircraft, and explain the basics of flight controls. Then you’ll take to the skies for a scenic flight—often the highlight of someone’s first time in a small aircraft! Many of our students say their discovery flight was the moment they knew aviation was their passion.

Ready to give it a try? Book your discovery flight today and take the first step toward becoming a pilot. We’re excited to fly with you!

Flight Hour Requirements for a Private Pilot Certificate

(Per 14 CFR § 61.109)

Important Note: The numbers below represent the minimum flight hour requirements under ideal conditions. In reality, most students log more hours before their checkride due to factors like weather, life events, and personal learning pace.

Don’t be discouraged if you exceed these minimums—that’s completely normal! Every pilot’s journey is unique, and the key to success is quality over quantity. Whether you're training with us or elsewhere, take your time, enjoy the process, and focus on gaining as much knowledge and experience as possible.
